I hope the Doctor simply took photos of her mum simply to make her smile. He likes her smile and couldn’t stand to see her so sad. He’s getting old and kind. And I do like that they have an alien companion as well. A not stereotypically sexy alien, and a black lesbian. The companion side of the episode I really liked.
