I’ve edited to correct to ‘wringer’ 🙂
Come back and let Ben and I know your thoughts once you’ve re-watched!!!

Haven’t watched this in… YEARS. However I know that the Reapers (the creatures coming to sterilize the ‘wound’) are from a novel, so the ‘rules’ were already set down and they just decided to use them in an actual episode. It’s possible the transition wasn’t smooth. Also I always presumed that ‘the church is old, therefore a strong shelter’ wasn’t meaning *physically* strong, but *spiritually* strong. Much like how in Amy’s Choice the Doctor also piles the villagers into the church for safe keeping. (And personal per peeve: Rose was put through the *wringer*, not the ‘ringer’). Anyway, I want to re-watch now and come back with more thoughts. 🙂

I agree with you Brendan! Series One was one of RTDs better series. Yes we’ll review the two parter in one hit 🙂 I haven’t re-watched this series in years and was a bit disappointed by how everything holds up so low expectations are better than high I say!

But of the RTD written was I think this is one of the best(Damning with faint praise?). I’d side with Maureen here and give this a 6.

The concept was solid although, yeah, I agree with Ben – Terry did it better. Another formulation of the concept is where time keeps moving and things get more and more f’d up until the protag heros up and takes a bullet for the team.

I too loved the convo between the Dr and the bride and groom. It was a heartfelt bright spot in the ep.

The next ep is the first of a two parter. Are you going to do both together? Don’t worry Maureen, Santa Moff delivers. Who else can make the words “Are you my Mummy?” the creepiest thing ever, and we get the intro of a rakish fan fav!
