Thanks for the link!

Daughter of the Forest was devestating. I still think it is Marillier’s strongest book to date.

I enjoyed Felix too, but many on Amazon found him too poetical. I found that reaction interesting. I thought the voice style used suited him.

Flame of Sevenwaters is supposedly about Maeve of the burnt face from COTP. Exciting! I will review here 😉 I also read Heart’s Blood but didn’t enjoy it as much as Sevenwaters.

I would suggest if you want to buy the books online to go to http://www.bookdepository.co.uk I purchased it for about $8 (aussie) and the site has free shipping worldwide.

Great review! I quite enjoyed the book, but not as much as the first two. I have mixed feelings about Child of the Prophecy as I didn’t really relate well to Fainne, although I could see all the obstacles she had to overcome and she definitely grew as a character. I found Heir to Sevenwaters a much quicker pace, however I really liked the slower space of the first three books because it enabled me to get caught up in their world and their family. I don’t think I have cried as much as I did in Daughter of the Forest.

At first when I saw that parts of the book (Seer of Sevenwaters) was from Felix’s point of view I cringed, but surprisingly I really enjoyed his POV.

I wonder if the discrepancy between the first three and last two books has anything to do when they were written, the first three being her first 3 books, and the last two being recent additions after a hiatus from the Sevenwaters ‘Trilogy’?

Also, FYI, a sixth book is being released in November this year: “Flame of Sevenwaters”. Yay! Can’t wait!

Have you read any other of her stuff? I read Heart’s Blood, and the Sevenwaters novella, I forget the name.

I personally enjoy the first three books in the series best. It’s hard to explain why until you read at least one of the books but, especially Daughter of the Forest, as an author’s first ever novel, is AMAZING.

Damn- I should have linked to Amazon. Whoops.

You could try your local library? I know they are quite popular in the UK so you might get lucky there… or there is always birthdays and christmas 😉

However, the books are quite expensive so i have added book 1 to my wishlist and at least won’t forget about it. Thanks for the review!
